Gavin hates diaper changes. Always has. Unlike Tyler, he has never outgrown his distaste for them, no matter how we try. The entire time he's on his back, he wiggles and maneuvers those hips trying to roll over and away from the changing table. I try everything to keep him busy while lying on his back, from letting him play with a clean diaper to blowing raspberries on his tummy. Nothing keeps him calm. Every morning, Tyler watches me struggle to get Gavin out of his nighttime diaper and dressed for school. Tyler's got his part of the routine down--he grabs whatever toy is within reaching distance, usually this is one of the letters from the alphabet floor mat, and hands it up for Gavin to study and for me to say "This is the letter G (or H or I, etc.) G is for Gavin and give and...uh oh Gavin needs another letter he dropped that one." Anyway, this is my half-hearted attempt (I can no longer give it my all because it's useless when it comes to this matter) at keeping Gavin distracted long enough to change his diapers. I just looked behind his changing table and noticed there are about 15 letters back there waiting for me to pick them up and put them back into the floor mat to start the distraction game all over again. He sure is a busy body.

Gavin's vocabulary has grown by leaps & bounds these past couple of weeks. He says shoes, hat, nose, on, off, Tyler, mama, dada, night night, dog, chili, coat, bath, and a bunch of other words I'm sure I'm forgetting. He also is getting really good at following directions. I asked him to put something in the trash and he did. I don't recall ever telling him what trash was or where the trash can is but he figured it out. So amazing, even the second time around. Little minds doing big work.

Gavin *loves* to chase and to be chased. We play this silly game of chasing Chili around the house and it gets everyone falling to the floor in silliness. Gavin instigates this game by peeking around a corner and then running away to another corner to peek around. He laughs so hard as he's being chased it reminds me of the good times I had as a kid when I'd laugh so hard it would hurt. This chasing game is increasing his coordination. Last night as I pretended to get him, Gavin back-pedaled about 10 steps really fast. Without stumbling. I was impressed. He's so fun.
