I rode my first horse at David Dorff's birthday party. He had ponies and a bounce house. Mommy and I had a long talk though. I hate long talks. The answer to her questions is always "Be a good listener." But today, she mixed things up and it turns out that wasn't the answer at all. I got busted for not listening to her questions and trying to answer them with my standby "Be a good listener." You see, I wasn't hungry when we got to the party. But all the kids were eating pizza and hotdogs. I wanted to play in David's room, even though the party was downstairs. David's daddy said I could, so I played by myself in his bedroom. Then the ponies arrived so all the kids went outside. But since I hadn't eaten, I was hungry. That's when mommy got mad. I wanted to eat. She said I needed to do what the party was doing. The party was riding ponies and bouncing. I missed my chance to eat. I thought independence was a good thing! I'm so confused. I mean, they had like seven pizzas and twenty hot dogs still sitting there with nobody to eat them. So I ate. Mommy lectured me the entire time. Blah blah blah. "Be a good listener," I would say. What? No? I shouldn't be a good listener? Oh, no, that wasn't the answer she was looking for. Do what everyone else is doing. Ok so if everyone else is peeing on the grass, I should too? Isn't that exactly what I got in trouble for last summer? I'm so confused. Anyway, Mommy and I made up and I rode a pony. It was so cool. I can see why Tyler rode on four ponies. But after one, I was done so I went back inside to play in David's bedroom alone while the party was riding ponies and bouncing in the bounce house.

Mommy took us to Picnic Day at UC Davis. It was pouring rain. Daddy was working there so we got to spin the Liberty Mutual wheel. I won hand sanitizer. You can never have enough of that. It was fun walking around in the rain. One place had knights swords and shields we got to try on. Tyler fought a bunch of other kids. I didn't want to. We went to the fire station and climbed on the fire trucks. Tyler shook hands with McGruff. I didn't want to. We watched the wiener dog races but not for very long. Then we went on a bug hunt. They gave me a ladybug inside a plastic tube. Mommy said not to open it until we went outside, but I couldn't resist. I opened it and closed it. Opened it and closed it. Opened it and she fell out. Picked her up right before a guy stepped on her. Put her back in and Mommy took the tube away from me, asking if I wanted to do Maggot Art. I like art. This girl asked me what color I wanted. Lellow of course. She handed me things that looked like tweezers and told me to pick the maggot out of the yellow. I didn't know what a maggot was so I just started swishing my tweezer things around the paint and suddenly this really nasty freaky moving thing came out of my yellow paint. I flung the tweezers and started shaking uncontrollably. It scared the daylights out of me. After taking a minute to watch, I quickly figured out what a maggot was. You put it on the piece of paper and it paints a line. I was squeezing the tweezers really hard. The girl assured Mommy I couldn't hurt the maggot. Tyler dropped his maggot on the floor. It was the strangest art project I've ever done. Then we looked at bees, beetles, grasshoppers, crickets, ants and plants. It was a great day. I took two naps, that's how you know it was a great day. Picnic Day is fun but I kept telling mommy we forgot to eat a picnic.

Kids can get away with so much. There was that time way back when I was a baby and I was sick with a bad cold and Mommy put me in the stroller and pushed me around Costco while Daddy pushed Tyler in the shopping cart. The cart was full so they started piling things into Tyler's seat of the stroller...a basketball, a Halloween costume, some lotion, random Costco stuff. All of a sudden, I threw up because I coughed so hard and Mommy freaked out and pushed my stroller right out the store, put me in the car and started cleaning the regurgitated blueberry muffin off me. By the time Daddy and Tyler checked out of the store and got to the car, Mommy was yelling about my fever saying we needed to go and climbed into the backseat with me while Daddy hurriedly unloaded the cart and put the stroller away. As he folded it down he discovered the accidental shoplifting in the stroller but Mommy wouldn't let him return it saying it was an emergency to get me home I was so sick. Well tonight we were eating dinner at Macaroni Grill and they have these really soft fancy blankies. Actually, Mommy said it was a napkin but to me, it looked like a blankie. I was tired and didn't want to leave without it. So I hugged it all the way out the restaurant and into the car.
